I was encouraged to write a blog - never done that before....anyhow here goes...

I have been advised to write a bit of a 'blog' when I go to the Gingerbread Cottage we rent out, so here goes... Off to the 'gingerbread cottage' with our lovely friends Les and Dorothy Hunter ... So I did a 'skinny' tan last night, woke up nice and brown but still fat, I've dyed my eyebrows, left the dye on, you can do that when your invisible and I am wearing a bra today Nancy Birch 😂 ..six stray sheep came down the lane to Rhoscefnahir to meet us! OMG they're going to be killed.... I jumped out of the car to shepherd-ess them to safety..but I had no idea what to do ... clapping made them run faster, and 'come back you daft buggers' didn't work either, they just ran off heading for the main road which was very worrying, a lovely guy came the other way and said 'oh it happens all the time on Anglesey', he said not to worry if they're heading for the main road, his dad owns the Butchers shop in Beaumaris so he'll take them there..... 'hahaha' and drove off. Gorgeous looking bloke Nancy! .....cottage is lovely, thanks to Jenni Mitchell the garden looks so pretty too, that's thanks to Sarah who lives next door, I love my welsh team xxx and it's a sun trap. So we sat there drinking wine, eating nuts putting the world to rights....Les was saying what great location it was.... 'you can be in Beaumaris in 10 minutes' 'we'll you could be anywhere in 10 minutes' said Dot...'NO you couldn't be in Holyhead in 10 minutes' said Les 'and you couldn't be in Southstack' .. then the wine kicked in... 'you couldn't be In Ireland in 10 minutes, or Scotland... haha or Australia'.....wine = talking garbage as usual...this was the theme for most of the weekend. That evening we had booked dinner at the 'Pier House Bistro' in Beaumaris, lovely food. great location and if you book early enough as I did; you get the best table too...overlooking the sea...we all drank too much.........so more scintillating conversation, there is a pattern emerging here....read on! Second night early dinner at the 'Marran Grass' which is definitely for 'foodies' its expensive and the portions are small but the food is cooked to perfection. (fried rabbit with rosemary and ginger.... sort of stuff)! but truly delicious. When we left it was still light and a lovely warm evening, Bill suggested we look at some Log Cabins for sale. 'why? when you have no intention of buying one..'well you don't have to buy one to look'.....so what the point of that. I said.... 'oh no point to it but we can look can't we........no, why would we.... if your not buying one... it ended with me saying 'OK then, let's go and look at engagement rings and not buy me one of them either, or dogs, yes, lets go and look at poor rescue dogs and not rescue one of them either, or cats, I'm longing for a pussy cat.....hic! (footnote I do now have a cat, but no engagement ring still) Next day, Dot and I shopped till we dropped! in Beaumaris, there really are some lovely shops there, 'The Naked Penguin' is my favourite. Then we had tea and cake in the 'Red Boat' and shopped some more! Dot is desperate for a knitted sun hat, she saw one in the Charity shop in Yellow this is nice Sheila she said!!!! ..when I stopped laughing I told her she looked a tit, I so I wouldn't let her buy it. I said maybe Pam Ward can knit you one Dorothy Hunter before you go (she's off to Australia in August Jean Margaret Appleton so she will no doubt meet up with you. Les and Bill walked the Menia Bridge and then to the pub and then back to the Gingerbread Cottage where they did some gardening...We also went to the Ship Inn at Red Wharf Bay, sat outside watching the sun go down with a lovely glass of Chardonnay, and we visited to the shop Jenni works in in Molfre but no Jenni...what's it called Jenni? great little shop it sells everything The cottage which is warm and cosy. Supper we sometimes bring that with us, and usually too much wine - particularly if I go with my pals... they are all; without exception lushes, so generally on the first morning we all have hangovers. Or as Lilian says feeling shabby! So with much laughter, its off to the beach to clear our heads.. my favourite beach is probably Lligwin not too far away, completely unspoilt - actually all of the amazing beaches on Anglesey are unspoilt and beautiful. and in season there is a tweeny cafe where you can sit outside and enjoy a coffee etc.
